Project of the city waterfronf of La Spezia

The winning project of the international competition consists of the creation of a new city waterfront for La Spezia, which is the commercial key of the industrial areas of Milan and Turin, and it’s also one of the main entrances for tourists going to Florence, Pisa, Genoa and Siena.

The new design of the waterfront generates a new, mixed urban area for residential, tertiary and commercial use, and it’s fully provided with public services.

The intervention aims at re-establishing the lost connection between the town and the sea due to the port activities, and it also aims at re-defining the use of Calata Paita area.

The project aims at obtaining a new coast line, gathering up services into “spots” and laying vehicle traffic underground, so that, above-ground, pedestrian accesses to waterfront surrounded by greenery, can predominate.
